Fastest Router for Computer Shop

I work in a computer shop (though I'll be leaving for college the end of next week) and just want to help improve the speed of the wireless before I leave.

We recently had to replace our Linksys WRT300N wouter because it died. So we ended up getting a 2Wire Wireless DSL modem through AT&T.

We also have a plain modem that works. Do you guys know of a router that would give us the fastest wireless speed that we could connect to that modem?

Since we are a computer sales/service shop, we do a lot of update downloads. Most, if not all, the laptops run a Wireless b/g card.

Any help would be appreciated :)

changing routers isnt really the best way to get more speed. youre not going to get a giant boost in speed with a change of router. you might get a router with a bigger range, but in the end, your modem and connection speed will dictate your speed.

imho, you should wire your computers.

You should focus on the speed of your service from AT&T. Preferably you should go with cable or fiber-optic internet service if it's in your area. At least find out what the highest speed is available on your AT&T service.

Your Internet speed is probably, what 5megabit bandwidth? so a 100mbit switch and 802.11g router are going to be faster than your connection.

You want a faster connection upgrade to fiber, but you'll pay for it.
