Hi
my desktop will not boot properly, idont get the beep and the green and red led,s come on initially then the red one go,es out i can hear and feel some thing working bt get an error saying cable unplugged. the system seemed pefectly ok the previous night.
my system is windows vista home premium
intel quad core 2 processor
asus p5n-e sli.
does this suggest psu or motherboard failure.
cheers Les.

have you opened up the pc to make sure nothing is unattached... if you get an error booting on the screen i doubt its the psu... but i really would need to know more

My dads computer would light up, but the fans and hardrive would not go on / beep so it was the psu

If it had a power cable unplugged it wouldn't boot, instead it would make a series of annoying beeps that represent some sort of problem. You're looking for something like a SATA cable unplugged, a fan cable unplugged, etc...
