My Compaq did seem to be fairly nice quality... Dell's were, but have since really gone downhill. Apple's are probably top notch. But in the end, I'd just build mine.

For me it was pretty close between Dell and Apple but I don't own an Apple so it had to go to Dell.

i voted HP because as far as prebuilt systems go i have had good experience with them....even though i have a compaq thats 7 years old and still kicken.....lol
but i would always like a custom system better...duh...

Everyone likes a custom system better. Compaqs run a long time but that's probably just to make up for the time they waste. Presario 6000 actually has Windows XP running in 128MB of RAM. Extremely slow.

yeah, i bought it back in 2000 with windows ME ...been running it ever since as my second computer in my room which my new build will be replacing, but i upgraded it to 512mb memory 2 hdd's and a wireless card and it works like a charm....lol amazing i guess

IBM- they were (about) the first to really get into computers, they still innovate today, and my parent's old computers at work were IBMs... they switched to Dells, and are now switching back to IBM. I like them mucho.

my mom likes dell.... so u can guess it in every room..u see a dell... their support is crap though... so far nothing wrong hardware wise...

Brand wise, I think Dell's are pretty good, especially their laptops. But custom built is always the best IMO.

I've always liked Gateways, even if they are a bit more expensive... they're good setups.

I don't understand, One time they came right to the door to replace a laptop LCD monitor with bad pixels.

Hp are good.

had mine over 4 years now i think and its been no problems at all,Exept for windows errors and such lol but nothing wrong with the machine at all.
