*after u read it you're going to realize that u need a program called reshacker, thats a really cool program. you actually can change a lot of what the little text boxs in xp say, you can also change the bootscreen using this program, so u might want to keep it when youre done just to play around with. Have fun =)

Depends on what OS we are talking about. In Vista I tend to turn off services that I don't need. With XP I tend to change the boot screen because the original can get rather boring after a while. Also with Vista one of the things that bother the heck outta me is the UAC which I promptly turn off as it is just a PITA. But, I like XP which is what I use on my desktop and Vista is on my laptop.

changing the bootscreen is one of my favorite tweaks in xp too, do u know if you can do it in vista or no?
 
Vista is very difficult to do and if you don't do it right...BSOD upon bootup. I honestly havn't tried to do it, but I am sure there is a way. I'm just not that brave lol. I use XP on my desktop and Vista on the laptop and I don't want to screw the laptop up as it is already slow. I am sure if you do some searching you may find a way to change the bootscreen for Vista.

i like to create my own MSSTYLES files for XP with MSpaint!

i pretty much recreated XP with just hax, almost nothing is the same, and i called it "laieynata"

I think it looks very sexy!
