Fedora killed Vista

Well I installed Fedora for shits and giggles on my laptop yesterday, and it seems to have fubared my Vista installation. When I try to boot into "Other" (From Grub or whatever it's called), it gives me a "Bootmgr is missing, press ctrl alt del to reboot". I can boot into Fedora, so my files can be saved should I need to reformat. I was wondering if theres a way to fix this so I dont have to reinstall Vista(which would be VERY nice). Any help greatly appreciated.

uh huh, and Fedora will boot fine, but when I try to boot "other" it says bootmgr is missing.

I'm gonna try doing a repair with my Windows disc, hopefully that will fix it...

You may have to manually add back the boot entry for vista since vista uses a funky exe file now as its boot loader instead of using a config file.

Once in Linux open up terminal and do the following code

cat /boot/grub/grub.conf (that will be cases sensitive so you may need to check)

Then copy/paste the configuration here on the forum and we can see if we can't get your vista install back up and running

Will do. At work right now, so I'll have to post it in a few hours.

alright, no worries, I don't need my laptop for anything right now. I'm scared to install Fedora on my desktop now...

go ahead and post the config file perhaps there is someone else who can view it first that also may be able to help out

Well the Vista repair disc seems to have fixed it. Thanks for the help anyways. I do have a couple problems with Fedora though, I can't get the wireless internet to work (the adapter works fine, I just can't get it to pick up a signal). I also can't get my resolution to 1440x900, the max I can get is 1152x864. The video drivers seem to be installed, cause it is detecting that I have an x1400. Any ideas?

Why didn't you use a Virtual PC? I use innoTek VirtualBox, running on Vista Ultimate, and from there, I run 19 distros of Linux, XP Home SP2 & SP1, as well as 2000/ME, 98SE and XP Professional SP2. Much easier, and you can just delete the virtual machine and virtual hard drive if it all f*cks up. VirutalBox is free too, so do a search on Softpedia (where I got it).
