Currently have a 7 yr old desktop and connect to work desktop remotely.
Appreciate feedback on laptop or tablet options for working from home and also doing fun stuff, like watching movies etc, when not working. Thank you for any helpful feedback.
If you are looking for a laptop though I recommend a Sony Vaio, I love mine, it's light weight, thin, decent battery life, great screen resolution and Windows or Ubuntu runs amazing on there.
I personally if you wanna go cheap and fun check out the new Kindle Fire ($200)
or if you wanna stick with a laptop and not do a mini or netbook...definitely check out the Macbook Air, it's just beautiful and you can take it anywhere like a tablet (weight and size).
You can check out the Gigabyte booktop range. They are tablet netbooks and I use one for work as an it technician at schools. Can remote desktop into work desktop, Can carry around as a tablet and type up word files etc (Given it is heaver than caryying around a dedicated tablet but more function as a pc) and can watch all movies etc.
