Hey guys,

Here are the specs of my new build. I would like to know if you think there is anything that needs changing or fixing. Any advice or suggestions would be great guys

ALL OF MY PARTS ARE (AND MUST BE) FROM THIS SITE

Thats a pertty good list, but if you buy a nvidia card i would go for the 780i. The X38 is great, but i would get it if you were to get a ATI card. Just my opinion though.

I would have but the X38 is much better at overclocking and the 780i is not what its cracked up to be.. it is inferior to the X38 chipset (as far as i can tell and from what I've heard). I also don't think that SLI is all its cracked up to be in some applications and games so I rather just stick with one more powerful GPU and get the better wuality X38T-DQ6 board.... I do see where you are coming from though

yes I'm aware of that, I just want this MB to be future proof for any changes or alterations I wish to make, save me buying a new Mobo for each upgrade... On the other hand, I think I may change the Mobo back to the X38-DQ6 because I do't see myself upgrading to DDR3 in the near future

When are you prepare to order?
I think it will be worth to wait until next week to have a look on the benchmark for those E8XXX CPU.

yeah i know... i was a bit put off by the 900 after someone pointe dout a lot of its flaws... the P182 has more space and is much quieter... which is big points in my books... I'm going to install a 120mm front fan to cool the GPU so it will have a bit better airflow but I do see where you're coming from

The Antec 900 is great if you're not that crazy about noise. It is a great overclocking and cooling case.

The P182 was made for quieter applications, and has a bit of reduced airflow. If you're not trying to reach amazing overclocks or run lots of hardware inside, it should be fine, seeing as you could add some case fans...

I don't plan to do amazing overclocks... I want to some moderate overclocking f the GPU in particular and perhaps the CPu but not to such a great extent

The new E8400 is 3 Ghz 6mb cache and is $183. The E8500 is 3.13 Ghz, same cache and runs about $280. As for the rest, there are some new quad cores coming out and such. Once again, not sure about the release date down under.

If you do OC the GFX, I suggest you run RivaTuner and up the fan speed. Mine was at 25%... And you can imagine how poor of a OC it would get

Do not put it at 90-100, as you'll wear the fan extremely fast.

ok sounds like you have this all planned out pretty well, good luck, i was just putting extra options out there

Yes and I appreciate it, but when it comes to the case, I really do want something nice and quiet... I am putting in extra fans and system cooling to increase airflow as well... thanks anyway

I may replace the fan on the GPu if i decide to OC it as much... I have seen a few that don't look too bad so I suppose that it also something I can consider
