alright well I'm on my cousins computer and i want to know how to make Windows XP boot with out the password thing popping up. Anyone know how?

and also how do make the log off screen turn back to the 3 buttons instead of the drop down list? thanks

You have to go into control panel, user accounts and turn off the password. I think the log off drop down has to do with what view you're running XP in (i.e. classic or xp).

What does the "password thing" look like? Do you see a screen that says "Press CTRL-ALT-DEL to log in"? Or is it a single line under your cousin's username?

Try JTM's suggestion for the quick log-in. You can also enable auto log-in if you want to keep the password (recommended).


Regarding the pull-down menu for shutdown/log off...Where is your cousin's computer? Is it a member of a domain?
