file download problem

A friend has a problem with her internet explorer. When trying to download a file a blank page appears and nothing happens. What could be the source of the problem?
 
What website is your friend trying to download from, and what file? At the moment it sounds like a cookie issue when moving from one page to another.

Emptying the browser cache and deleting temporary files and cookies may help, I have known of people having this problem with Gamespy, and apparently their cookies have been part of the problem. I personally have never come across this though.
