yes sir, [tab] is 100% right on. you could try opening it with Word as well, but no guarantees that it will read it.

wps stands for Microsoft Powerpoint (Office 97, 2000 or higher). if you don't have office (and no friends) go for "openoffice". it's free ware and compatible to works, office, wordstar, excel and all other stuff ;-)

Since my laptop was installed with MS-Works, I used to work with 'unusual' file formats for typing (equals to MS-Word) and calculation (equals to MS-Excel). I can open those files in Word or Excel but I cannot open .doc and .xls files from MS-Works. I decided to install MS-Office while MS-Works is still there. I like it for organizing my daily schedule :)
