Often required restoration of remote files, and data recovery tool given to me has very much helped. To all I advise!
You recovered your lost files with the trial version of File Recover from PCTools. You ended up with blowfish protected .frd files and can't open them.
If the delete action is fresh and you didn't write any data to the partition the lost files were on, I'd recommend using another tool, like Recuva, to recover the files again (and save them to another partition / hard disk / external storage medium) and compare the results to the files you recovered with File Recover. If essential files are missing or you end up with corrupt files, the only way to convert / unlock the .frd files is to buy the product. It'll cost you €30, but after registering the product you can open the lost files after double clicking each file (http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65493). And yes, you have to click each one of them, so if it's sereval hundreds of them I wish you good luck... B.t.w. you won't get the exact files back: the time stamp will be altered.
I wouldn't recommend choosing File Recover as your helper in need. Support of PCTools, even after buying the product, is very disappointing. They'll send you e-mails answering the question you didn't ask, technical knowledge is weak and they service multiple clients at the same time, resulting in questions you already answered and other mistakes. More over, the product doesn't offer more than the competition.
And yes...the first agent really asked me if I had need for speed installed, when asking him about the .frd files... Instead of using their own database, they seem to prefer Google as source...
