I am trying to setup permissions for my home network, but at the moment am not having much luck.
i have turned off Simple file sharing etc, so i have the permissions menu in XP.
i can setup permissions for the local users, and that works, becuase if i try to access the shared folder from another network machine (remote) then it tells me access denied and i do not have the permissions etc.
so thats working.
my problem is, i can't seem to setup any permissions for remote users... when i can to add a new user and select 'location' it only gives me the users on the local machine, and not any remote machines.
I.e.
i have file server, with a folder called Data.
i have shared the Data folder and set permissions for the local users on teh server.
I also want to access the Data folder from my laptop (via the wireless home network) but i can't becuase i can't set permissions to allow me to access it.
i hope this makes sense, as i'm really stuck now, and in need of some help.am i doing something wrong? or is it just that you can't setup permissions for remote users and only local users?
Cheers.
