I have a shared network at my work office with multiple files on this network. I want to set up specific files to where only a few of my co-works are alowed to use. Can I put a password on a file or block out certin people?

Yes you can, but you have to make a plan for which folder to share with which set of people and try not to share the root directory(folder).

I have tryed researcing this and I could not find anything very helpful. I was aondering if anyone had a liknk to steps I can take or steps I can can use to get what I need done.

Ok, in Windows 7, right-click on a folder that you want to share, click Properties, click the Sharing tab, and then click Advanced Sharing, select Share this Folder, then click Permissions, then click Add, then type yourcomputername\user into the box to add another user. You will have to add accounts for any user that will connect to the folder. Then, when everything's applied, the other users will click on a shared folder on the network, then it will prompt for a user name and password, enter the account name and password you created for them on your computer and allowed in permissions, and there you go.

It's pretty complicated to do what paul said. Try researching it.

It is not really that complicated, all he has to do is make sure the files that will not shared with everyone is put together in a folder in the root directory, and the others put them in a different lever folders so he can decide who to share them with. and put those files for everyone to the public folder that everyone can access.
Best wishes.
Paul
