file sharing problem or network issue unsure?

Hi, I have a problem with file sharing / printer sharing.

I have a BT 2500v router, with a desktop pc hard wired to and a laptop with a wireless conection both work perfectly on the internet, however I want to file share and allow the laptop access to my printer conected to the desktop PC.

Do I need more hardware or will the BT router do the job. I have used the windows XP spet up wizard on both PC and Laptop and they still can not see each other, what am I doing wrong? any ideas most welcome.

Please help as I am getting very frustrated with this now.

i don't think any more hardware is needed, if the printer is share already, try accessing it by IP
go to start->Run-> and type "\\IPofPCsharingPrinter", without the quotes,so it will be like \\10.30.3.XX
and see if it accepts

You don't need any more hardware its just that the setup wizard is very fussy and will only work sometimes.
