it says its in use with another program.
But i ended the programs that thought were interfering it.



Its called NTUSER.dat


and it stops me from backing up my HDD

i tried it and its saying can not delete do you want to delete at next reboot.
but i was reading about the NTUSER.dat file and its soemthing that works with the users logged on computer...


so brb to restart

So i restarted it.

It took a longer time loading my personal settings, when i clicked my user account.

Put my wall paper to default blue. and took the icons that i had on the left and right and merged them.
when i right click on something its an old grey box instead of the other thing.
my start menu is gone. lol. i click on start all the icons like mozilla, itunes, css, ext are gone. but one my desktop.

it deleted my restore points.

I go to click on css or steam and C++ error

woah... what have you been downloading :O, system restore when all fails, when i cant dlete something i just go msnconfig turn everything off reboot my comp and then try casue then theres not applications at all going so nothing could interfer, sometimes you even have to close some processes
 
user.dat is an essential part of Windows. it contains the registry settings for windows. NEVER play with it.

To fix things, either do a system restore to before the problem, or hit F8 during startup and select "last known good configuration".

If neither works...you will have to reinstall.

NEVER delete a hidden file unless you know what it is for.

It interfered with the backup because it was in use during the backup...try doing a backup with "shadow copy" enabled...or manually choose what folders to backup...not the whole My Docs folder.
