Files are disappearing...??

So, it started with a folder containing music files. A whole folder was just gone. My disc space showed that it hadn't reduced in size. I hadn't moved the folder and it wasn't hidden. I did a search for the folder and came up with no results found. I opened Windows Media Player and played a song that I knew had been in that folder and it played fine. I opened the containing folder and found the whole folder and all files inside it and then moved it back to it's original location in My Music. So, all good there.

Then, I was playing some songs from another folder. This folder also contained some jpeg images. I move the audio files to Windows Media Player. They play fine. When I go back to the folder with the songs/jpegs, if I switch the "view" from thumbnail to detail, the jpeg files disappear.

If I check the folders properties, it shows that it still has original number of files, but they can't be seen in the folder once opened. They don't show up in a search. They're just gone.

Any thoughts, ideas, anything??

Thanks. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks again.

Run your Anti-virus software. Check Malawarebytes too make sure there's not a nasty virus running on your PC that you're unaware of.

Thanks for the ideas. I ran anti-virus and malware tests, rebooted, but files are still disappearing before my eyes.

Oh, yeah, I've tried using files/folders on both the C and D drives. Same results.

Any other ideas. Thanks.
