Files leftover from OS reinstall

I reinstalled windows xp, manually reformatting my HD (or so I thought) but there are still a LOT of files leftover from my old version. There are old program files such as photoshop, autocad and office, but none of these programs exist to be removed in control pannel. Old users and music files in shared folder, just to name a few, still exist.

I can't find any other partitions, that i know of, but installation of my new OS was a little quirky to say the least. Is there any way I can get rid of EVERYTHING from my old OS?

The easiest thing to do is to install XP again and delete/recreate the partition that already exists whenit asks you where to install XP, it sounds like you skipped this step.

Alternatively, if you know which files were the old ones you can just delete them manually.
 
i think that's my problem. last time it wouldn't let me delete the partition with the old os b/c it said it had setup files that were needed on it, and i don't have enough space to create another partition big enough. can i put the setup files on a flash drive? and if so, how do i know which files they are.
 
yeah, the windows xp os file was downloaded from my university, and it downloaded from the server as a zipped .exe, and i thought it had to be opened from windows but i'm not sure. Can I make that exe into a bootable cd?

You can use a program like IsoRecorder or InfraRecorder to make a bootable CD/DVD with the OS on it, then boot from the disc when you first start your computer and install it then..
