Files on this CD are read-only

I've got windows XP and now I always get this message when I try to make changes or delete a file on a CD-RW: Cannot delete: Files on this CD are read-only. You can still copy new files to this writable CD, which will replace files already on the disc." I don't get it. How did these files become read-only? Why won't it let me make changes? I don't recall ever having this problem with Windows 98.

Is there a simple solution to this problem?

Appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Mike

Ok a cdrw allows you to delete the cd and rewrite it... You cant use it like a HD and just delete individual files...

Yes as Trizoy said. What you want to do is first copy the file your making changes to your desktop. Make the changes then put it back on the CD copying over the file. If it still says its read only while on your desktop then right click on the file goto properties and remove the check mark from "read only" and then apply the setting. This will not work on the CD mind you. You have to first copy it to your desktop or elsewhere on your Hard drive.
