Hi guys

I recently brought this Dell inspirion 1525 laptop and i havent been using it much,i keep it next to my TV,i watch movies and stuff.I do some downloads but only movies so 99% this problem isnt caused by some virus or something...

I saw some icons disappearing from the desktop but it wasnt anything important so i wasnt so worried about it...Then i needed my cammera and i transfered some files(video) from the cammera hard drive to my desktop, only for few days..And few days ago all those files from the desktop have dissapeared, there were couple of movies(but thats not important) and those files from my cammera as well as some of the icons...Now those programs are still on my computer, like limewire is still installed just the icon has disappeared...

The OS is windows vista and im sure its nothing to do with the desktop cleanup wizard.I have just tried to search for those files and i found them somewhere on the computer...Now the problem is search results say the name of the file, then as type it says its shortcut not the file, date modified is the date when i saved file on the desktop, and as a location folder it says its in C/users/name/AppData/roaming/microsoft/windows.But if i try to find that folder,if i go to c then users than my name i cant find that AppData folder, but when i search for those files it says its there.

Now if i try to click on that file to open it it shows me this msg:"the item "video" that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved,so this shortcut will no longer work properly.Do you want to delete this shortcut?" The only thing i can do with it is right click then open file location, and it takes me to C\Users\name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Rec ent and there are all those files, actually shorcuts for those files but again if i try to open it it shows me that msg again...

Now is there any way i can recover these files, coz those videos are really important...Is there any software that can recover those files as i didnt delete them they were just moved somewhere for some reason???

I hope its not to long and sorry for my english

Thanks

PS. Site from wich i download movies is like private site,i know the ppl im downloading from...They share some old movies and sport from my country,i have downloaded few only so im 99% sure its not some kind of virus...

All i want to know at the moment is there any software that can recover these files,i know there are some for deleted files but those files are not deleted they have just disappeared

You can also try Runtime which has helped me a lot.
Good luck with the recovery

The AppData folder you mentioned above is a hidden folder. If you have not allowed viewing of hidden files and folders you will not see it.
