I am currently trying to use filezilla to set up an ftp server so I can access files anywhere there is internet and have encountered some issues.
Every time I try to access it with the client application from the other computer in my home it times out and will not log in. I have changed numerous configurations and ip addresses and this is what I currently have it set up as.
I currently have a static ip for my computer on my local network, set too 198.162.0.3. (I do not have one from my ISP) This is so I can set up port forwarding, which I do, ports 20-21 for FTP. I also have port triggering and uPNP enabled.
I also have DynamicDNS set up from a free account at Dyndns.org and the info is entered into my router.
I have a host name made, wildcard is not enabled. I entered my IP via the auto IP finder tool they have, it is not my local network IP address of 198.162.0.3.
I also selected Host With IP address when I set up DynamicDNS.
Filezilla configuration:
defaulted Server address which is 127.0.0.1
I have a user set up of my name and last two intials along with a password and have selected what directories I want shared.
Connections settings are as follows, 'listen on ports 14148' everything else is default.
When I installed I used port 14148
Trying to log on this is what it says....
Status: Resolving IP-Address for ********.is-a-geek.com
Status: Connecting to **.***.**.59:14148...
Error: Connection timed out
Error: Could not connect to server
Status: Waiting to retry...
Status: Resolving IP-Address for ********.is-a-geek.com
Status: Connecting to **.***.**.59:14148...
(asterisks are for my security reasons
)
I think this should be enough to help.
Am I doing something wrong? What else do I need to do?
BTW I have 6MB cable from a local ISP. I Have a netgear rp614v2 router.
HELP!! I am getting annoyed I would like to this to work very much. Thanks for the help.
My windows messenger id is (it is a joke no worries
) [email protected] So IM me if I am on and you may be able to help, thanks.
