I had all my money lined up to buy my $1500 build but I just couldn't spend that much on a computer. So my new budget is $800. I came up with this:

Build:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819115004
222.00

GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813128017
108.99

CORSAIR XMS2 1GB (2 x 512MB) DDR2 800
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820145566
-Adding more later, possibly 1 or 2 gigs
111.00

MSI Radeon X700SE 256 Mb(Open Box)
-Upgrading to a 8600 Ultra, 8800GTS 320 Mb or 640 Mb
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814127216R
82.99

Western Digital 160 Gb
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822144415
52.99

XCLIO GOODPOWER 500W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817189005
51.99

SAMSUNG 18X DVD±R DVD Burner
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16827151136
31.99

COOLER MASTER CAVALIER 3 Case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811119075
59.99

Thermaltake Big Typhoon+Artic Silver Ceramique
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16835106061
49.98

Total 809.36 w/ shipping (anyone know how to knock off 7 cents:P)

Does it all work? I'm fairly sure it does(correct me if I'm wrong).

Why not get a cheaper graphics card if you're planning to upgrade soon? Something like a x700 would be a good bang for the buck.

It's only 5 bucks cheaper and I'm a Nvidia fan. I'll probaly sell to my friend anyways he's planning on getting a cheap amd sometime and this would be a step up from whatever 64 mb card he has now.

personally id go:
e6300 - $163 by march break
ds3 - $133
2GB DDR2 800 G.skill RAM- $184.99
x700 - 50
160gb hdd - 60
xclio 550 - 80
centurion 5 case - 50

that equals 721 w/o shipping but is much more solid

Looks good, except you are forgetting the DVD drive and the upgraded HSF.

I like what he had currently put together. Didn't look to shabby for 800.
