FINAL BUILD! Last minute check!

Should i use the thermal pad? or use the arctic silver 5 (i bought the silver 5 already)

If you do not want to overclock, use the stock Intel HSF that comes w/ your CPU. Do not use the AC5 because the Intel HSF comes pre-applied w/ thermal paste.

And for the heatsink and fan I'll just use the one that comes with the intel core 2 duo for now.

At the stock clock, that will be fine.

The antec 900 case will help cool the cpu down won't it?

Not really. Maybe a little.

How do i overclock? and what are the risks?

Search the forum, and research the internet on that subject. Monkeys can OC a CPU. It has nothing to do w/ skill and it is not difficult. The risks are minimal. Do your research. ;)

1) Go to CMON
2) Jack multiplier up
3) Raise FSB till crash
4) Raise voltage
5) Run stress test like Orthos or Prime 95 or F@H...

6) Go to CPU section and read "overclocking 101"

I have a problem with sound though. Everything is not muted. (realtek hd audio manager and the one with windows). When i plug each cord in it recognizes it and asks which it is and selected the right one. I installed the driver cd that comes with the motherboard.

Thank you

And your problem was....

yeah i got the 3870 :D

Why? At $270 the 8800GT is a MUCH better choice, as it's better than the HD 3870.

If I remember correctly.. the HD3870 is the same price as the 8800GT :)

Yes it is, bad move by newegg.

Newegg also raised the prices on the 3870 from $220 ot $270, dumb.

at $220 the 3870 is the better deal, but at $270, the GT is.

Exactly

I think you meant CMOS ;) But it's usually the bios. And you can't change the multipliers in just any CPU. Currently, only the AMD FX/Blacks and the Intel Core 2 Extremes supports unlocked multipliers. All the other chips have locked multipliers.

Btw how much do you think i could overclock it by?
Right now the settings are:
GPU clock 777mhz
Memory clock 1126mhz
The GPU temperature is 50C when its at idle
