woah i just looked up overclocking
its just a bunch of changing the multiplier, FSB, and vcore very slowly and cautiously over weeks at a time to eventually achieve the desired result.
Is this all there is to it? And what does it mean to be "stable"?
So now do you recommend i get the E6600 and overclock or the E6300 and overclock if it is my first time on my new build?
Or should I not overclock at all, and test a small overclock on my computer now?
What does OCing do anyway?
Thanks
Basically. For something to be "stable" means it won't mess up, even when it is under a heavy load.
Sure, why not? One of the single most important rules to overclocking is to ask questions and to not think you know everything, because you can destroy your processor.
Overclocking raises the speed of the processor. For instance, if you overclocked an E6600 to 2.93Ghz, it would run similarly to an X6800 at stock speeds.
