Finalizing a Build

My friend instigated me into rebuilding my pc, namely I ripped out Igor's (my pc) inards and now they're laying everywhere. It's been about a half decade since I've done any serious work on computers so refreshing took some time, but I think I cam up with a decent build. It's main function will be gaming (Simcity 4, Europa Universalis 3/other paradox games, FFXI). I also want it to be able to play blu-ray seamlessly and will use it for editing video when I get a camera soon.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Brisbane 2.5GHz
Abit AX78 AMD 770 ATX Motherboard
Diamond Stealth ATI Radeon HD 2400PRO 512MB Will have 2 of these for crossfire.
Creative Sound Blaster SB0570 Audigy SE
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
Patriot Viper 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
LG Black CD/DVD-rom burner
Lite-On Black Blu-Ray DVD-Rom drive

If you notice I don't have a PSU yet, not entirely sure what one would be best. I'm open to any suggestions for improvement on what I've provided though. While I only wanted to spend $600, I've already past that so the few last things won't particularly matter to me in how much they cost.

Intel are good for these sorts of things, ask a few people on the forum and they will say intel.

I suggest getting you get one good graphics card rather than two budget cards.

Well a "few" people are bound to say Intel, in just the same way a "few" people will say Norton is good or a "few" will say Piratebay instead of Isohunt etc etc.

I have not seen any SOLID evidence that Intel are better at game performance than AMD, plus end of the day, it's mainly down to graphics card/s than CPU/s as intel and AMD have similar performing chips anyway.

still......each to their own.:)

If you want to go AMD. Get another board, that one is pretty cheap made. Crossfire with lower end cards is a waste, just get one better card. The sound card picked is a waste, the onboard sound is just as good.

@maroon1: thanks for that data info, that convinced me to switch from AMD to intel.

As such I've switched everything up, and greatly appreciate your opinions and advice.
I've switched over to an Intel core 2 duo E8300
For the mobo I'm looking at a microstar P6N SLI platinum. Picking out a mobo is probably where I would be worst at though >_>
For a single video card right now I'm leaning toward the Nvidia 8800 GTS 512Mb

But like I said, I would like your opinions on this though for compatability and limiting of bottlenecks.
