I've lived in this small town for 22 years. Dial up and ISDN come and gone, and then came DSL. Because we live 3.5 kilometers from the signal distribution point we only get 3 mbps on copper telephone cables. In order to get high speed internet from the cable company we would have to pay 3,000 Euros to have them run the cable to our house. Now, Telekom is digging up the streets and burying fiberglass cables everywhere. They are supposed to be finished by Christmas, after that we will have up to 75 mbps.
