Finally Here

OK, I didn't know if I should put this in the video card section of the processor section... so I just decided to put it in here!

The first physics processor is out (well, at least one that the public can buy without buying an Alienware or high end Dell computer).

From what i hear, its not worth it yet, since i dont think many games support it yet, and you might be better off spending an additional $300 for a better video card and/or cpu.

It turns out that right now, the PhysX doesnt do so good. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2751

They say that because of the slow PCI bus, it reduces framerates since the data has to travel from the PPU, to the CPU, and then to the GPU.

I knew the PCI bus was going to be a problem from the start, that's why I want to see if the x1 and x4 versions do better... I can't remember their speeds so I'm going to google it.

Edit: x1 slots run 250mb/s and the I tried almost every search engine I know and I couldn't find the bus speed of an x4 slot...

Man... I was so pumped up for this too! It doesn't matter if more games start using it, the PCI bus is just too slow. This might not be too good for ageia (h/e you spell it) because they are going to have to upgrade to at least an x1 slot. I wouldn't be surpised if they put it in an x16 spot... but that woud interfere with SLi and Crossfire.

You should see if you can get a thing that displays a bullet ricocheting (sp?) until it hits someone. That would look cool, especially if the surfaces deformed appropriatly.

Haha motherboards are already cramped as it is... they would have to make a new form (form= mini ATX, etc.) known as "mega-motherboards."
