i have been thinking about building for a while and have actually posted a few times. but between technology changing so fast, and the money not really being there i never did it i bought a hp to be done with it.

now it is time to build the hp can't keep up like i need it to, my production software is to the point that it momentarily freezes, sound still going but the screen kind of sticks.

my production pc will NEVER be connected to the internet or any network. i have a seperate destop for all that.

i know i want a rackmount case that will fit better in my desk (4u)
Intel core 2 duo 6600
4 gigs of ram

now comes the hard part, should i have a dedicated harddrive just for the os and keep all other software and files (samples on another harddrive)

I need a motherboard that i can easily oc,not really sure if i would do it or not but would love to have the option

also i have a 32" samsung lcd tv on the way that i plan to use as a mointor/tv to properly utilize this what kind of video card would i need?

would really like to keep the budget under 1200 unless it will make a noticeable difference in performance.

Do you mean you are building a media centre?
I don't have experience on that.[/url]

No Actually it is a music production pc, i will be recording and creating music with it,

the reason for 4 gigs of ram is because I will be running multiple softsynth instruments at a time and converting multiple tracks form midi to audio , the computer will see a taxing load at times, and waiting on it hinders creativity,
