Finally!

Hey guys finally just built my very first PC. Ran into a couple problems, if they are problems, I was hoping you guys might be able to help me with. First, while running all the wiring to the motherboard I had a wire coming from the front of my Corsair 650D case labeled 1394, which I found out is firewire, but I cannot find a home for it on my MSI 970A-G46. The other issue I found was when I first boot the computer up it read on the screen reboot and select proper boot device. No idea what that means, but read somewhere to stick in the OS disc and try that. I put in the Win 8 64 bit disc and it went straight to windows installation after showing a MSI screen, skipped BIOS setup and everything. I even tried restarting the computer after windows installed and tried to see if there was a prompt to hit any of the F keys or anything but there was nothing. I dont plan on overclocking or anything so I was just gonna leave BIOS at default. I am currently at the point where I am downloading all the drivers for the MB. Seems to be going fine for now.

Thank You!

Not many motherboards have 1394 connectors on them, so you can either leave it be or remove it from the case.

As for your other issue, you should see a POST screen just after you turn on the computer that will tell you the different keys to press to get into BIOS, etc.

Like said above the board doesnt have a Firewire header. But I would not try to remove it from the case. Just leave the cable unhooked. As far as I remember on MSI you hit the Delete key to enter the bios. Sounds like you just need to set the harddrive as first in the boot order.
