Some one please help me find a BIG enough case to hold 2 8800 ultras or these cards

also a water cooling system.

and also the case has to look nice , right now im thinking of this one

The case seen there is a full tower model that goes vertically while video cards reach towards the front of the case with the larger vpu models like the new DX10 capatible cards by both ATI and NVidia. The MSI Radeon HD 2600XT still comes close to the front drive bays in the Antec Nine Hundred mid tower model case seen at http://www.techonweb.com/products/productdetail.aspx?id=D03493&src=YH

If you are going to run strictly sata drives there should be enough room allowed in either case as well as others. The gaming type case generally offers more room then the typical desktop styles. Those allow for better cooling needed. The case seen there lacks any front fan while seeing one at the bottom for intake? The case rests with the bottom covered by a surface like the top of your desk.

ya i was kinda thinking it would be too small for those 2 8800s, so is there somting much BIGGER with style ?

The thing about full towers is that they allow room for reservoirs for liquid cooling when you have one for cpu andother for video cards and such where having the increased number of 5 1/4" bays can make the difference for some. But for the added length on cards seeing the larger vpus you have to look at the depth of the case selected not simply the height. With one single round ide cable(Antec Cobra UV white) plus the main harness and 5 drives installed besides the floppy in the top bay the space between card and front drive slots is not that large.

If the 8800s as I suspect are longer then the mid range card used here(HD 2600XT) that could be a problem in many cases. This is why comparing dimensions on the gaming styles cases looks the best for this. Other styles and types are often more compact.

I thought Antec 900 will be able to fit the 8800GTX? Not sure about in SLI though

They barely fit. I'm thinking about getting the Cosmos in a couple months.

You'll have plenty of room too install two Ultra's in the Cosmos. Maximum PC used two Ultra's, and the CM Cosmos for their 2007 Dream Machine. Unfortunately, I cant find any pics of the rig they built.

your not going to use the power of telsa cards in any game for the next 5 years so forget about it

The one thing and main thing most don't realize is that the hardwares move faster then the OSs and sodtware designs do. The high end cards that are out and keep coming out are essentially overkill for what you actually need. In 2006 everybody was rushing after the 7900s and suddenly wondered why they were having headaches. The 7950s corrected that problem of overkill then.

You will alwys be working with cables until everything goes optical? Even with strictly all sata drives you are still going to have to deal with two wiring harnesses namely the wiring of the case for power, reset, leds, and audio, usb. esata ports. The second is the harness coming from the supply. Some cases come with plastic ties seen for securing the wiring like the Antec 900 for instance.

Yeah, I don't think cables are going away anytime soon.

until everything goes optical

Huh?

I love the Antec 900. Being a mid tower case, however, it is difficult to manage the wiring. Does that make sense? For example, many full tower cases allow you to route the cabling behind the motherboard, with leads to the hard/optical drives. That's clean. My SATA power cables are smashed against the GTX's. With the PSU being forced to the bottom of the case, I don't have a lot of choices. Really, all I would like is to give the GTX's some room to breathe. I'm going to spend some more time on the wiring. I think I can make it a little better.

What you are seeing with some full towers is longer standoffs for the board itself allowing that room. Most mid tower cases including the 900 do seem to lack that quite a bit. The Antec was the first seen here that included the plastic retainers for the wiring coming down from the top there.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean directly behind the motherboard. Some cases with a motherboard tray have enough room for you to route your cables behind the tray, in between the side panel and the tray. The picture below is a good example.

This is Maximum PC's 2007 Dream Machine. The case is a CoolerMaster Cosmos. Notice how easily the cables from the PSU are routed behind the case. That's a clean setup.

Again, I love the Antec 900. My only frustration is with the size of the case, and it's lack of cable management features. Of course, when you buy a mid tower, you have to settle with the space you paid for! :D

Having a tray instead of the typical mounting plate seen offers a larger space as seen there. You'll find this more common with the server type cases over the average mid tower or gaming type. You will also see this more with the older types cases built for businesses due to the heavier harnesses then seen. New cases are mainly opened and exposed for appearances with things like neon strips, UV ide cables, etc..
