Hi guys, just found a barebone cputer but it doesnt come with a cpu so i need your help to try find me a good intel core 2 duo cpu, im looking at a price range of £70 max, help me out here guys :D

E6300/ E6500 are all based on Core 2 Duo architecture, even though Intel call them "Pentium dual core". The only difference is that E6300/ E6500 have smaller L2 cache than other Wolfdale based Core 2 duo

Thanks for the reply guys, its an ebay item and it does not display the motherboard model from what i can see, it says in the description that is compatable with these cpu:

Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor
Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor
Intel® Pentium® Dual Core Processor
Intel® Celeron® Dual Core Processors

heres the link to the auction too:

i think ill stick with the pentium, its in my price range and the only difference is that the l2 cache is smaller, im not bothered about that, soo do you think that pentium is good enough though?

Forget the E5300, get an E6300, it has a better FSB. E5300 is 800mhz, while the E6300 is 1066mhz.

The Pentium is also easy to overclock. (see my sig) :)

the core 2 duo is cheaper and i aint looking to overclock so ill stick with that, thanks for that anyways mate ;)

What are you planning on using your system for?

My system used to be good enough until my recent interest peaked on a video game. Flight Simulator X really taxes my Athlon 4600+ Dual-Core. Looking at getting a Phenom II 940 Quad-Core but $156 is very expensive to me.

i use my computer everyday but i dont use it for gaming or prgramming or anything like that, i use it mostly for iinternet, music and downloads
