Finding ip address in an email?

I know that you can see where an email has come from by checking the headers of the email and finding the senders ip. But today I decided to check that and so I sent an email to my dad and then checked his email but my ip wasn't listed anywhere. Me and my dad share the same ip obviously...

So I sent one from his account (hotmail) to mine (gmail) and still didn't work. I know exactly what my ip address is and it wasn't shown anywhere.

Does anyone know what is going on? I mean why isn't it showing the ip address. I'm not doing anything to hide it. So why isn't my ip address listed in the message header when I send an email?

You know what? If you send it via the web interface will be shown only the IP address of the email SMTP.

In order to read the real IP of the computer of the sender, the email should be sent using an email client like Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora and so on...

but bear in mind that your IP address should be public in order to be seen, if it's privatem then the Ip address of the "gateway" will be shown
