i have a P4 550 with HT tech. and i was wandering what my socket type is? its a 3.4Ghz Prescott core; cpu-z says its an LGA 775 but i remember reading somewhere its a socket 478.....i dont know which....... how can i find out or do any of you know?

thanks for the help.

Manufacturer's specifications for that model board! That's the first place to look at finding out anything about any make and model board. Do you know that?

One freeware can help if you don't have the user manual onhand since that will usually give the general specifications there at the end of the contents section. The System Info for Windows(SIW) will give you a complete breakdown on all softwares as well as the information on the board and all other hardwares as well. http://www.gtopala.com/

For this all you do is right click on the executable to create a desktop shortcut if not simply double clicking on it. There's no installer or registry involvement with the free tool there. No bugs either!

well i searched my cpu in google and looked for socket type, the first 4 links say LGA775, after that i stopped looking.

thanks for your help guys.
