how the heck do you create a new tab for a new webpage without opening an entirely new browser window?

1. Click "file" at the top left

2. select "new tab" and it will open

That's the way I do it anyway

To switch between tabs, ctrl+tab

If clicking on the link makes a new window, right click on the link and hit new tab.
