Is it possible to turn off downloading files in firefox? Also is it possible to get it to do it in only certain accounts in win98?
 
I'm pretty sure that the download window/function in any browser will be integrated into the program unless you have something set to catch it first... Why exactly are you looking to do this, if I may ask?
 
I just had to format and reinstall windows on my friends computer. I did the same thing last month. He has 2 little brothers that get on the computer and mega-spyware/virus infect the thing so bad that it needs to be formated to get it all off. Windows 98 dosnt have a limited user option, I was wondering if I could just keep them from downloading stuff, except on my friend's account. Or is there a way to prevent them from running .exe files? That would work too.
 
Yuor not being annoying, just trying to get a question answered, if you were replying t your own thread every 30 mins, that would be annoying, but your not, so....

anyway back to your question, prevent users from running .exe files, im fairly sure there is something out there to do taht, your friend would ahve to be an administrator thoguh...
 
spyware and malware CANT be entirely blamed on downloading.

For example, lets assume you did get downloading turned off... A large part of malware and spyware would.could be installed.
