Firefox hangs (comp. too) after opening

I have searched high and low on this subject, but haven't found anything that helps.

FF opens to my home page (Google) just fine. But when I try to navigate from there it hangs and slows my comp. to a crawl. I cannot close FF nor can I access any of FF's menus. I have to reboot my comp. to get out of it. I have tried it in FF's safe mode with the same results. I have uninstalled/reinstalled with the same results.

IE 6 works just fine.

Your system must be infected from virus which is not letting you work on firefox..
I think that formating your PC may fix this problem..

You didn't even tell us the version of your Firefox browser. But If your using a Firefox 3.0.10 this updated version have lots of bugs and issues. I suggest if your using the new one, try to uninstall it and find some firefox 2.0. This will help you about this problem.
