Firefox Issues

Hey all.

Been having some oddities with Firefox lately. It seems that I'm getting frequent crashes, but they're not your average crash. When I get a crash normally, the window goes gray, Windows says it's Not Responding, tries to fix the issue, Epic Fails, and I usually just hit cancel to close the program before Windows goes off on a tangent.
However, these crashes are weird. Firefox just STOPS. You can't hit the X to close out, you can't click tabs, it's as pointless as clicking on your wallpaper. The only way to close it/get rid of it is via Task Manager's End Process feature. Surprisingly, it consistently is able to restore the tabs I had open without much of a hitch.

What I've done: I've tried using the next Beta as I thought the current Firefox might have some issue with my computer, and I wasn't wanting to wait for a patch. Same problem... exactly.

What I've noticed: When I'm using Firefox, it tends to use the most system memory of any program open... that's just how Firefox is. However, with these recent crashes, I'm seeing that FlashPlayerPlugin is using over 500,000KB of system memory compared to Firefox's 315,000KB. Not only that, but there are TEN instances of FlashPlayerPlugin and the others use from 10KB to 100KB of Memory.
The exact instance name is FlashPlayerPlugin_11_3_300_265.exe *32 for all ten of them.

Another issue is that Chrome is generally poorly performing for me. I've heard rave reviews on the browser, but I seem to have to refresh pages a lot to get them to actually load as I frequently get a gray spiral telling me that nothing is actually happening.

Try disabling the flash player plug-in and see if it helps.
I have 2 instances of it running and less than 3,000K total.

I've been having the same issue with Pale Moon on my desktop (occasionally on my laptop) and it's getting quite annoying.

From what I understand, Adobe still hasn't fixed the issue they have with Flash. You could try an older version (Say version 11.1).

I just reinstalled it and so far only two FlashPlayerPlugins are showing up now, neither surpassing Firefox's memory usage.

Are ya saying same problem or slight improvment.
Try uninstalling again. goto start , run and type '%appdata%. (with %)
delete all occurence of Firefox. Might work or improve.
Then reinstall.

So far no crashes. If I get even one more of those crashes, I'll take your advice! :good:

Thanks :)

Well I found some help here: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes#w_step-1-uninstall-flash-11-3

But when I uninstall flash player, there are still instances of FlashPlayerPlugin_11_3_300_265.exe *32 in the task manager... which means the uninstaller is blatantly lying to me and I should be able to threaten to sue, get a hefty cash settlement, buy a ranch, and live comfortably purely on the interest gained on the cash settlement... or someone needs to tell me how to REALLY uninstall this thing.

You needed an excuse to reformat anyways, I keed.
About 6 months ago I had issues with FF crashing and so was Dragon.
I tried several things but I was overdue for a reformat anyway, so that's how I fixxed mine.
But I don't go longer than 9 months without a fresh install so it wasn't a big deal at the time.
