I've got a Dell laptop. I can connect on my home network with the laptop's wireless card. However, whenever I travel, I can never open Firefox browser (or Explorer) at a hotel or other hotspot. I can connect to another network. It says I'm connected but my browser won't display the web page. Any suggestions? Thanks!

did you try pinging ?
are you sure the network is connected successfully ?
just out of curiosity , are you running vista ? if so that may be your problem

To ping (test the connectivity basically to a site or computer), open up command prompt (Start > All programs > Accessories > Command Prompt) and type in ping www.google.com. You should get a response back, however if it says "Request Timed Out", then you arent connected to the internet, or theres a problem with your connection.

Assuming it doesn't work, do you have a static IP assigned to your computer, or is it automatically obtained by DHCP?

Your problem could be a number of things, but I have to tell you that I had a similar problem with Internet Explorer (IE) not displaying any web pages even though I was connected to the internet, I tried a lot of things, including reinstalling IE and nothing seem to work until I uninstalled my antivirus which was Defender Pro and replaced it for AVG, and now it works fine. Just in case you want to try that. It can even be your anti spyware. If you decide to unistall them, do one at a time and let us know if any of those were the problem. Good luck!

Another simple solution would be to try uninstalling it and removing it from your computer completely then redownload it using Internet Explorer. I had that problem on my laptop and just redownloaded and everything was fine.

Deleted the connection my ISP CD setup. The ISP's CD caused settings which allowed my laptop to only connect to my home network. I've I deleted the connection, I was able to connect to other networks.
