I have a small network set up at my home. three desktops all connected. They all have AVG for protection and go through my router. I recently got the idea that a firewall might be a good idea. is there a free and low mantnace firewall out there? Something that runs smooth but doesnt need stuff done to it every day??
thanks

Or you could buy an external firewall, that way you dont have to worry about protecting each PC individually.

Yes
You said you were using a router, what make is it?
Most of them have a firewall in them that you can set.

your router will likely have a firewall (+ NAT), just use that... and keep all your ports closed!!!

Yup was going to post that myself. A router that supports NAT Firewall is the best way to go. However, not all routers support NAT-firewall, but most modern ones do.
