I just want to know the advantages/disadvantages of using either of the two; FireWire 400 & USB 2.0
Also, very often I read or hear that a person's external storage solution crashed while being used with USB 2.0. I haven't exactly heard the same about FireWire 400, anyone experienced similar problems with FireWire as well?

Firewire is indeed much faster. I use Firewire 800 that is on my mobo to transfer my videos and its ALOT faster than when i tried using USB 2. USB 2 is worthless when transfering video from my camera to my computer, does it at about 10fps.

USB 2.0 can go up to 550MBPS max...Firewire can get up to 400MBPS i believe...of course i never saw any date transfer ever get that high.

If you have a firewire port, then you should buy a firewire device if you plan on transferring large amounts of data. USB should be used more for devices like keyboards, cameras, and other plug and play devices, but not so much the transferring of data.
