Alright so I bought a firepod firewire mixer so i can record onto the computer. great so it worked the first night i got it and i was happy so the next day went i went to record again the mixer claimed to be in sync with the cubase recording software and i couldnt get it to record anything and so i reread all the instructions and did the best i could to fix it for 2-3 hours... then i uninstalled the drivers for the mixer because i was running out of options but when i went to reinstall the setup got messed up and froze my computer. i went into control panel to uninstall the program and it wouldnt let me and then the screen went blue a few times but basically now my computer freezes at startup after it asks me if i want to start in safe mode, regular mode, etc etc. in safe mode i couldnt uninstall and it froze up.

my guesses are the computer is done. the hard drive at least.

i need a laptop now or maybe a desktop (just the box) for around $500 that has a firewire input (for laptop - desktop I have a PCI card)

computer is a pentium 4 - 256 ram - 40 gb hdd - windows XP
it is a brand new computer - got it from my grandpa

unplug the mixer, from your computer.

Start safe mode, and uninstall the appropriate software.

restart.

If it keeps going blue... then let us know, it could be something messed up in windows.

after that is done... Make sure the specs of your mixer is up to the specs of the computer... Ignore the "Minimum Specs" and go one higher...

Might need to add some ram. 256 is pretty cheezy, so that might be the problem.

yeah i did what you said and nothing is going. when i uninstall it it still shows up in the programs list.

and going higher in specs right now is kind of dumb considering it worked the other day.
