First anit-virus-1, now anitvirus 360

Two weeks ago I had to wipe out my hard drive to get rid of anit-virus-1. Yesterday, all the same, annoying pop-up windows that looked exactly like the windows that were popping up when I had anti-virus-1 on my computer (the only difference this time is the boraders of the pop-ups were red instead of blue and they said anitvirus 360 instead of anti-virus-1) started popping up. And once again it completely took over the operation of my computer. It wouldn't even allow Malwarebytes to open at all. So once again I had to completely wipe out my hard drive and reinstall windows. Where are these viruses coming from, how do they keep ending up on my computer, and what do I need to do to prevent getting them?

You're not wiping your drive if they keep coming back.

How did you reinstall exactly?

Reformatted, then reinstalled windows. They aren't there after wiping out my hard drive. Antivirus 360 didn't show up until almost two weeks after my last operating system reinstallation. In fact, my computer was working like it was brand new after my last reinstallation, up until this antivirus 360 thing showed up. I think they're coming in through my cable internet somehow.

Do you have a firewall? Maybe it's a particular website or such that you are visiting. Do you have the lastest browsers installed? Windows updates? etc.

Take care,

How about Anti virus software? What do you use?

If you reformat, reinstall windows, then go online
to the same websites, with no protection, you're
going to get the same issues over again.

I'd recommend NOD32. It's very "lite" and costs $40
per year, or $60 for two years.

If you can't afford it, then use AVG Free. You need
something...

I'm going to see about downloading the latest version of IE if I don't already have it and update windows. I absolutely don't know about a f irewall though. What do you recommend for a firewall?

Windows has a built in firewall, you just have to make sure it activated, go to Control Panel and Windows Firewall to make sure. Also, as Bodaggit was saying, make sure you have an anti-virus program installed and up-to-date. I use AVG Free Anti-Virus, Ad-Aware SE, and Malwarbytes just to be sure I'm covered. Is there a particular website you keep visiting around the time the virus' kicks in or something that you download?

OK, I just downloaded the latest updates for windows. I don't see anywhere in Internet Expolorer where there's an option to do an update. I've gone into properties and clicked on every tab and there's no update option. I will download AVG, where do I go to get it? And my windows forewall is turned on. The only possible place these viruses could be coming from is I-tunes. I don't know if those downloads are virus-free or not. My daughter uses it.

I just downloaded AVG and it detected anti-virus-1 and antivirus 360 during installation and said it had to remove them to complete the installation. That means these viruses were either not removed when I reformatted and reinstalled windows, or they infiltrated my computer again in the short time since I last wiped out my hard drive just this morning. Whenever they got there, AVG said it removed them. Hopefully, this will be the last of these stupid, annoying viruses. Thanks for all the help!

He did update Windows, not trying to gun you down or anything. I'd also download Malwarbytes along with AVG from here http://www.2009-version.info/malwarebytes/index.php?source=CCN-CD242-US&googleid=1039407835&targetsite=FDZ&dn=2009-Version.info&d=2009-Version.info&gclid=COCuzI_StZkCFQEoGgodTT8a7g
and make sure you update both and run full scans. Also, there isn't any reason you would get a virus from Itunes since its ran by Apple and is definitely a secure place to download from.

If you have a totally unsecured computer connected to a high-speed modem (doesn't even need to actually be surfing the internet, just turned on and connected) it can take as little as 10 minutes to get some of this stuff on your computer. Make sure that you also get Ad-Aware and Spybot, both freeware available from download.com. These will help combat all the adware and spyware that's getting on your computer as well.

Currently I have AVG, Malwarebytes, Ccleaner, and Defraggler. I need Ad-Aware and Spybot on top of all this? Isn't there just one software that does it all?

There is, as an example you downloaded AVG free and on the same page is the one you pay for "AVG Security Suite". This will afford protection from phishing, spyware, dodgy sites, viruses and other attacks.
Some like seperate programs and some like to have one program that covers all.

There's many out there. NOD32 is a good one that I personally use because
most of the other "suites" that include everything are resource hogs, and
NOD is not. Also, that's all I use. NOD32 Antivirus, Ccleaner, and Windows
Firewall
. I've never had a problem with viruses. *knocks on wood*

Anyway, once you have the Antivirus and whatever else you want, back them
up to an external drive or burn each of them to a disc.

Unplug your computer from the internet. Format and reinstall Windows.
Shortly after you see your desktop, install the tools you want, BEFORE
hooking back up to the internet.

Once you're protected, then you can update windows and surf the web.

First of all update your antivirus software and scan the computer for virus or malwares .
If think didn't resolve your issue , Try to download and install malwarebytes and scan the computer .
