I would change two of your chosen components. The motherboard you have picked has a PCI Express X16 slot and will hold back the video card you have chosen. Take a look at the GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R motherboard. It has a PCI-Express X16 2.0 slot and it is a better motherboard.

Instead of the Q6600, I would look at the Core 2 Duo E8400. The clock speed is higher than the Q6600 and it has more cache.

All the components you have previously chosen will work with the motherboard and processor I have suggested. The RAM you picked is 240-Pin correct?

Thanks for the fast reply and the advices!

I'll get the p45 motherboard but i'll stick with the q6600.
The G.skill memory is 240 pin.

Thanks !

You may also want to look at a new brand of a power supply.

Good Quality Power Supplies:
Acbel Polytec, Akasa, Antec, Astec, Asus, Channelwell, Corsair, Delta, Enermax, Enhance, Etasis, FSP, Gigabyte, Impervio, Lite-On, Masscool, OCZ, PC Power and Cooling, Seasonic, Seventeam, Silverstone, Sparkle, Thermaltake, Toughpowers, Ultra, Wintact, Wintec, XClio, Zalman, Zippy

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R motherboard. It has a PCI-Express X16 2.0 slot and it is a better motherboard.

I agree with that I currently use it and its a dream board....I use it with my Q6600 and can easily OC to 3.6ghz with it...if only cooling agreed :)

You really don't need the ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED heatsink and fan. The Q6600 version processor you have chosen already comes with a heatsink and fan. I wouldn't get it unless you are planning to overclock.

This power supply is a few dollars more than the other one you have chosen but you won't have to wait 50 days to get $40 back.

OCZ StealthXStream OCZ700SXS 700W - $125 (Has a $25 mail in rebate).

This case is good and will save you about $25:

I'd recommend getting the Zalman personally.

The Intel HSF sucks balls, its loud, the clips suck and sometimes come un-clipped possibly causing damage to your cpu, mobo, blah blah.

I always recommend that if your budget allows you to, get a quality aftermarket heatsink even if you aren't overclocking. It's just a good idea with a Q putting out as much heat as it does..

You are the first person I have ever heard complain about the heatsink and fan that comes with the Intel Q6600 processor. Anybody else have any input from experience on the Intel Q6600 heatsink and fan?

I'd probably get a better HSF just to be on the safe side. The Quads can push out a fair bit of heat, then if you decide to OC, you have the option to.

If you're getting that board and the Q6600, then you'll more than likely to be OC'ing it at some point, it'd be a waste not to.

Plus;

Stock Clocks Makes Baby Jesus Cry

You wouldn't want that, would you? :P

Considering how cheap aftermarket coolers are, there is really no reason to not spend a few extra bucks to protect your processor.

Whether you o,c or not...they kick out alot of heat--I'd rather be safe than sorry and I just don't trust Intel's stockers.--or amd's for that matter

Well it's not just the Q cooler, but the overall Intel HSF. They use crappy little plastic clips to keep the heatsink attached and I've had them fall off, some stay on, some fall off. I'd rather just have one that is screwed into a backplate for my personal assurance.

ya i have mine on right now until i get a liquid cooling kit in a few weeks and just trying to get it on was a hassle, my mobo had to bend like crazy to get it to click in. i thought it was going to snap my mobo in half

That is the advantage with choosing low watt processors (below 95 Watt). I don't have to spend a more $$$ on a heatsink and fan. My stock cooler that came with my Athlon 4600+ was fine. The fan isn't too loud either.

That makes me want to stay away from high Watt Intel processors even more now. It ticks me off to hear they cheap you out with a garbage fan and heatsink.

Right. I trust amd HSF though, the way AMD has their heatsinks attached to the board is almost full proof unless one of the plastic tabs breaks which is pretty hard to do. In Intel's case they have the 4 plastic pins that could simply come loose and you would loose contact with the CPU..
