First Build Ever

Hey guys, just making a wishlist here for when ive got the extra cash.

Now I know "first builds" and " I want to play Crysis on MAX settings!! =D" is getting really freakin old. But hey, come time I have cash, I don't want to build a mediocre computer. Im using Crysis as a measuring device; goal: have a computer powerful enough to play Crysis on Very High in 1440x900 resolution.

That'll make me a happy panda :D

Now im trying to build a computer as low a cost as possible but still play Crysis without a hitch. This is a my first build, not too computer savvy yet, but I understand things well enough. As you'll read, I plan on taking 2 GeForce 8800 GT's and linking them through SLI. As I see this is the most cost effective way (at $150 per card x 2 = $300-$320) of getting a very powerful graphics setup.

Let me know what you guys think and please let me know if im missing anything or totally got something wrong or whatever

Heres the list ive built so far:

I'm not a pro on builds, i usually base on AMD platforms because of the price, but just a little FYI: 2x the cards does not mean 2x the power. You might want to go with intel for a gaming build, that is what i amt trying to say.

For what you want, i suggest an E8400/E8500 for your processor, or if you REALLY want quad get a Q9450. As for graphics, get a 4870 or a GTX 280 and go SLI later. I think either of those are around the same power as 2 8800gt's. My pref is the 4870. Good build otherwise;)

First off I would highly reccomend changing from two video cards in SLi to one video card of a higher model, as this will give you more performance now (as some performance is lost in SLi) and the ability to change to SLi later in time for a performance jump.

So I would reccomend you get a 9 series, or a 280 or somethin': http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&N=2000380048 106792522&name=GeForce 9 series or http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=GTX+280&x=0&y=0

HDD coolers aren't really necessary, so if your looking to drop the cost, I would recommend leaving it behind.

I'd agree with Visy on the suggestion of going with Intel.

Also, NZXT is an alright brand of computer chassis, although I would highly recommend using the cash you save from going with a single card build to get a case made by a better known brand such as Antec, or CoolerMaster.

Remember btw, this is just my opinion guys.
