First Build - Will this work?

This is my first computer that I plan on building from scratch. Plan for some online gaming, but mostly major multitasking. Just wanted to know what people thought about this setup and if everything works together. I googled a lot and triple checked everything but I would just like some more professional overview to make sure I didnt overlook anything or if maybe there would be a better option. Or also am I missing anything or do I have too much? Please and thank you for your help.

gaming and multitasking, you need a GPU, HD6770 or GTS450 or up. Also, drop the I7 and get a 2500k. Saves money and performs near to the same.

So switching to the 2500k and adding this: ASUS ENGTS450 DC OC/DI/1GD5 GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
Should be good?

How much multitasking are we talking about that would require the upgrade? Like how much would I have to be running at once to consider it?

where can you get all that for 650? that's a good bit more than 650 right there. but for the multi tasking the only way you'd need the i7 is if running 2/3/4 of what he said, an i3 can use them, and i5 will be plenty, but the i7 is just for the people who want all the speed they can, and then you'd want to go sandy bridge-e but that costs either 600 or over 1k just for the cpu

Yes it is more than 650, if you purchase everything off of newegg its about 1100 However, if your willing to put in time (3 hours) of internet searching you can find everything for much cheaper. And I forgot to include the OS, with that its 850. And all the parts are brand new.

well we use newegg as it is trusted and reliable, you may want us to at least check the links as some people may know if a sight sucks. and on newegg the os 100, so where it goes from 650 to 850 for the os idk unless you're getting a retail copy so you can change mobos later on.

I understand that thats why you use newegg. Im using pc.7store.us for most of the items. and no, i didnt realize there was a cheaper version. I just used their website and it said it was 200. Thank you for saving me some money :)

but with the oem version for 100 it is also locked to the motherboard so you won't be able to transfer it to another computer like the retail lets you.

It can still only be on one computer at a time though right? The more expensive one would just let me switch it to another motherboard if i decided to switch, that the only difference?

the only one i know of, and if there's another someone will prob post it, but i don't think there really is

OEM is tied to the motherboard its installed on and legally can't be transferred to a new motherboard. There are ways around that, but I'm not talking about it. The retail version will allow you to transfer it to another computer but must be uninstalled from previous pc first.

If you will be doing any online gaming with this, I would highly recommend to use an ethernet cable if you plan on being a good distance away from the router. Otherwise, you will need a wireless adapter, I strongly recommend getting a pci wireless adapter and not a usb adapter as they tend to be buggy.
