Hey guys, Ive always wanted to build my own gaming rig but never had the funds till now to do so. Ive always just upgraded regular retail PCs but now that I can pick and choose my own things I wanted to make sure I have compatible items and some feedback from people with more knowledge than I have. Here is a list of what I have in my Wishlist

Case - Roseweld Challanger Black Gaming ATX
Mobo - ASUS P8Z68-V LE LGA 1155
Processor - Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz
HD- Seagate Barracuda Green ST2000DL003 2TB
RAM - x2 Crucial Ballistix sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3
Vid Card - EVGA 01G-P3-1556-KR GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) FPB 1GB 192-bit
PSU - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 650W ATX12V
Disc Drive - ASUS Black DVD-E818A7T/BLK/B/GEN - OEM
OS - Windows 7 64bit home premium

Like I said this is my first build, so I tried to get stuff going based off of compatibility but still staying in a budget of 1000. Again any feedback is welcome. Thanks in advance.

It's an awesome build. Is there a reason you're getting a 2TB HDD? Unless there's a particular reason, there's no need to get a 2TB, you should just get a 1TB.

what's this build being used for exactly, if gaming then there is no need at all for 16gb's of ram, and also if it's for gaming i would go to an amd processor and then grab a way better graphics card, the 960t can easily play any game with little difference from the i5's. also green hdd's aren't a good idea, 5900rpm means the loading will be on the slow side for everything, the operating system, programs, and games will all load much slower than normal if you are on a 72000rpm now.

this is what i would do, it was already in my cart from yesterday i think it was

other than overclocking the only disadvantage of this list is you can't add a second graphics card with this power supply and with his you could, and this ram is a little slower. but this is 1042 shipped and also has 35 in rebates, and having this 2gb graphics card would prob be a little better for better performance in the future.

thanks for the feedback guys.

The reason for the 2TB HD is because I wasnt getting a SSD for my windows, so I wanted to compensate, But if 1TB should be enough Maybe having a faster HD would be better.

And yes this is going to be for gaming. My current rig just cannot handle anything new (IE SWTOR, really like the game, but I lag like no tomorrow)

Time for the upgrade to something good.

Johnny how is that case? I was kind of torn between the one I linked and that one you linked. I kinda liked the one I linked because it came with 3 fans.

So you guys think I should switch to the 7200 1tb HD over the 2tb I have? and as far as it all working together, no problems?

the haf 912 has plenty of air flow, haf actually means high air flow, and it also has better cable management so you can run the wires behind the motherboard tray, which gives even better air flow, and you could add a fan for less than 10 bucks anyways.

it would run about the same temp, there won't be a big difference, maybe a few degrees probably between the 2, just the haf looks nicer and cable management is a nice thing

Don't think there will be any diff in temps.

NE eblast has promo's on:
Barracuda 1TB (7200.12) - $109.
2500k - 205.
Challenger-U3 - 45.
Saves 40 bucks.

Are you set on Intel? You can get the same AMD cpu that I have for a lower price. I have been an Intel guy for the past 6 years, but am very pleased with amd on my current build.

Thanks guys, and I am partial to Intel and ive heard some great things on that processor, thats why I chose it. And a 60ssd was an option but the prices on them are crazy due to the flood in Thiland, So im not too worried about load times. Anything will be faster than what im currently running.

nope, that's actually a great price on ssd's right now, they've dropped a lot. it's hdd's that are rediculous, you used to be able to get the samsung f3 which is currently 150+like 8 for shipping for i think 50 for a while maybe it was 60, and free shipping.
