first build, low budget

Why not go with a amd build for that budget? i know there are many Intel fan boys here :P

But for $5 more you can get a 5600 than can be overclocked and at stock speeds will whoop a E4500. The 5600 is on par with the E6550 i would say at stock speeds. But you still need to fit in a OS

Like i said, for that budget i think he will get more out of an AMD build... i mean $150 will get a 5600 which is by far better than a e4500. I think its on par with a 6550 (stock speeds)?

First: E6550 performs better than 5600+

E6550 is on par with 6000+, not 5600+

Just look at the benchmarks here

Second: 5600+ is barely faster than E4500 at stock but when you overclock them the E4500 beats it by far

Just read this website
http://xtreview.com/addcomment-id-2766-view-Core-2-Duo-e4500-M0-stepping-overclocking.html

E4500 can be overclocked to 4.0GHz with Vcore voltage 1.77 v.
