Im a Novice myself but I can help you out a little since ive been looking at this stuff for a couple weeks now and these are things ive looked over and chose for my future PC.

First off you can spend a few more bucks (like 4) and get the 880 motherboard with onboard graphics as a back-up to discrete graphics.

Also if your going to overclock then spend the extra 20 bucks and get the Black edition 955 which is easier to overclock then the 945 .

You dont need that much RAM really 4GB will be enough and even though the motherboard says 1333 you can use 1600 it will load as 1333 but you can just change the settings in the BIOS for it to run at 1600.

A couple more things if your gonna get an after market Heatsink you should get good Thermal Compound also. The monitor, heatsink, blu-ray drive, and hard drive should be fine but you might want to bump up the PSU to the 650 ($10 more or same with rebate) if you plan on using crossfire in the future (allows for either 6 pin or 8 pin graphics cards also). I know nothing of graphics cards so i cant help there. The only other thought i have is that you probably dont need a full tower, a mid tower should be fine and will save you some money. The one im looking at getting is this one VV though you can get something nicer if you like.

I ordered my CPU from new egg. It was a Phenom II black edition 3.0ghz. The heat sink that comes with it is made for it and it works really well. I would suggest spending the money on a better mother board. When it comes to building a PC you can try and cut corners here and there, but when it comes down to it you want to get the best mother board & CPU you can afford. Or you can spend that money on this.

case - CM RC-932-KWN3 is big and expensive. Drop to a cheaper case and invest the money for better video card

CPU - Phenom IIx4 955 if you overclock

RAM - 2 x 2 GB usaually enough

Video card - Get 5770 1GB instead
