Hello, for the past month or so I have been becoming more and more interested in building my own computer for the first time. I am trying to build a PC costing close to $1000 USD, plus or minus $200. I already have the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
The computer will be used for games such as Crysis, CoD4, UT3, and others with similar requirements.
Here are the parts I have come up with:
Cooler Master 690 case $79.99
ABIT-IP35-E mobo $89.99
EVGA 8800GT SC GPU $289.99
Corsair 520hx PSU $119.99
Intel Core 2 Quad q6600 CPU $279.99
G.Skill 2x1gb DDR2 800 RAM $54.99
Seagate Barracuda 250gb HDD $69.99
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit OEM $111.99
TRUE 120 heatsink $64.99
Scythe S-flex heatsink fan $14.99
Total Price: $1176.90
Other than buying parts from other retailers, is there any way I could cut the cost to as close to $1000 as possible, while maintaining most, if not all of the same performance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
