I'm trying to create a rig that will handle gaming on high settings without having any problems, and also planning to run dual monitors for productivity software (Office professional.)

Just wanting to make sure these are a good fit and will be compatible without too many problems. I do already have the processor and the operating system (got good deals on them so I went ahead and purchased.) And like I already said the case will be almost free with my build up of gift cards. I'd like to keep the total of the other parts under 500 but am looking for suggestions (especially in the MOBO/RAM areas because that's where my knowledge is weakest.)

I completely forgot to make sure it was 24x. And those psu's all look good but I was thinking of leaning towards this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016
Any pro's or con's I should look for?

And one last question that will show I'm a total beginner, what's the difference in the p67 chipset versus the z68?

Benny Boy:
The gift cards are not just for use on a case. They're just Best Buy gift cards, do you think there's something else I should be spending those on?

And thank you both for the quick replies.

Since the BB price for the case is $30 + tax or shipping more than it can be bought for, use the gift cards on items that are closer in price, like the Optical and whatever else.
If your buying from NE, sign up for eblast promos in case there's something in there that's worthy of buying.
The 902 doesn't have all that great a features for $100 imo. A good case can be in the $70 range.

Looks like your going to use the onboard graphics for now and upgrade that later on?

I see, the reason I even looked at the case was because some friends said they had the 900 and loved it and how well it kept things cool. The fact my local best buy has it so I wouldn't have to pay shipping, and I get employee discount was nice too. But what features should I be looking for in a case? Is there certain brand(s) that I should stay away from or look for?

I actually had picked out a graphics card, a GIGABYTE GV-R685OC-1GD Radeon HD 6850 but I don't know a whole lot about graphics cards either. Like I said before I want to run games on high and at least dual if not triple monitors so I went for one that I think could do that with ease. But I don't know what brand is best on those either.

Thank you for that article, so it would seem the Z68 is the superior chipset to go with.

Budget cases.
Good features for the money. good cable managent & hdd rail design, bottom mount PS, includes 3 fans, painted interior, 2.5in SSD bay.

Very good deal with this rebate. Just get a fan for the back, as it comes with one in the front.

As far as the 6850, it depends on what games you want to run on high.
Perhaps use one of the first 2 cases, which will hold the hw nicely, and put the $ towards a bigger GPU? You can catch a 6950 for about 200-230$

Those all seem really nice and a much better price. The 6950 is preferable but where should i look for them? newegg as good as the next place or tigerdirect or is there another retailer you think would be better?

Also what do you guys think of the cpu cooler that packages with the 9700K? Would it suffice since I'm not overclocking or should I look at an aftermarket one?

I ususally check NE first. They and others have eblast that you have to free sign up for to get the promo's and such. I'll compare it to other e-tailers like mWave, Tiger, SuperBiz.

I'm pretty sure the stock cooler on the i7 2600k is ok for oc'ing to about 4Ghz. Maybe someone will stop by and confirm it.
