Hey.
A friend wants me to build him a computer for $1200. This is my first build out of new parts, but im Tech savy and have built some out of old computers. I do realize its a lot different though. Anyways, here is the Build.

CPU-Phenom x4 970 $139.99
MOBO-M5A99X EVO $149.99
GPU-ENGTX560 ASUS $189.99
RAM-Corsair 1600 Veng $46.99
Case-Fractal Define R3 $99.99
HDD-Seagate 1TB 7200 $139.99
ODD-ASUS CD/DVD $19.99
Mon-ASUS VS238H-P $184.99
PSU-Corsair 600W $89.99
Win7 Home Pre $99.99
$1161.90

Its going to be used for gaming and everyday computing. The guy will probably want to play BF3, but it doesnt have to be perfect graphics...i dont think thats possible with $1200. He has Keyboard and Mouse.

Any Opinions? if i could cut $50-100 it would be ok....

Also, if i order this cart, is there anything else i need to buy to build it?

EDIT: 8GB Ram

Save some money on the case and get a HAF 912. It has way better cable management, and is only $60.
See if you can get a 965 or 955 CPU. they will clock near to a 970 clock and save you quite a bit of money.
A 560 is just a 460 renamed. Look for a 560ti, or save your money and get a 460.

agreed on the cpu

right now gigabyte is a little bit better for the money, asus has been having some issues, and this is just as good or better for less

for that much, this card i think is actually a little better or just as good, and costs less

less money for the exact same stuff

agreed on the case, or for that much check the haf 922

faster for less money

5 more for an extra 1"

i'm guessing this is the one you're talking about, alot cheaper though, unless you mean the gaming series 600w, but both of them are 15% off with this code: CorsairPSU15

20 off the os: EMCJHJE33

Ok, thank you guys for the Replies.

Processor-I dont want to have to overclock this thing. I could do it, but i want to run it stock. And i am willing to pay $50 more for that feature. Anyways, i looked at some stuff, and i was going to go down to the 960t anyways. And then, for $10 less i can get the FX-4100, which has more cache and is clocked higher. So wouldnt it be a better choice??

I like that GIGABYTE Motherboard.

I want to buy the best video Card i can for $200, assuming i dont upgrade anything else. Is it the XFX? or something different.

I switched to the cheaper memory.

I like the HAF912 the best.

That hard drive is $10 more, and has 32MB of Cache instead of 64MB???

That moniter is $50 more.

I have picked out the Gamine series PSU, but i like the CX600 V2 better. I didnt see it the first time.

I feel so stupid because i dont see some of these ovious things. I guess if i had a little more expirence, i might see some that. I dont know...

Again, do i need to buy anything else. Like, Thermal Paste for the CPU? or is that included?

Thanks Again.

there is a 40 off code for that hard drive, and 32mb plenty, and the drive is faster, not by too much though i don't think

the monitor is 5 more once you put the code for 25 off in

thermal paste is only if you buy a different cooler which would be for overclocking, and the 960t is the better choice.

Ok. Ill have to see what kind of offers there are when i make the buy. Those offers end 12/21 and i most likely will not buy by then.

Ok, ill trust you on the 460t. I dont really understand, but ok.

Best graphics care for $200 or under? Is that the XFX you suggested. Or something different.

for the cpu, it is actually a 6 core cpu they turned 2 cores off of, so you can unlock those 2, or overclock it like hell, but either way it is plenty fast for anything at all for reletively little money.

i think the 6870 is about the same performance as the 560, and this one is cheaper than any 560 i think, so i'd grab it, free dirt 3 game, comes overclocked a good bit, good deal i'd say.

Would you link me to that please?

How hard and dangerous is it to unlock those cores. How much of a Benefit will He/I see?
